Rural transport service will start in Madhya Pradesh: Govind Singh Rajupat

Bhopal. In the contemplation meeting organized by the Madhya Pradesh government at Pachmarhi on March 26-27, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had talked about the formulation of a rural transport policy in the state in view of the problem of transport in rural areas. Keeping in view the intention of the Chief Minister and the convenience of the people of rural areas, the new rural policy of the state was presented in the cabinet on Thursday. Giving information to the media after the cabinet meeting on Thursday, State Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that in compliance with the decision taken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Pachmarhi contemplation, the State Transport Department has taken a step forward and piloted the Rural Transport Policy.

It has been decided to start from Vidisha as a project. Giving information to the media, State Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that Rural Transport Credit Model is being implemented as a pilot project under the Rural Transport Policy. Shri Rajput informed that the Transport Department has prepared the rural transport policy of the state in collaboration with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance, Bhopal. Shri Rajput said that due to the closure of state transport buses, problems of transportation in rural areas were coming to the fore. The problem of overloading was being seen in small passenger vehicles running in rural areas, due to which the passengers were getting upset. Transport Minister Shri Rajput informed that under this scheme, passenger buses plying on rural routes will be given exemption in motor vehicle tax. After the success of Vidisha model, this scheme will be implemented in the entire state. Shri Rajput informed that a tribal district will also be included in the pilot project under this scheme. He said that at present, small buses of 20 seater capacity would be operated on rural routes. Shri Rajput said that our connectivity in these routes will be in such a way that while operating small passenger buses on the same road from which big buses will operate, its time will be linked with the time of big bus, so that Passengers do not have to wait for buses for long.

 Bus operators will get credit points… Transport Minister Shri Rajput informed that credit points will be provided to the bus operators for the operation of passenger buses. Under which, on the basis of the number of credit points that the bus operators will get, in the fixed proportion of the credit points received on the buses running on the normal route of that operator, that operator will also be given some relief in the monthly motor tax vehicle. To get credit points, any operator has to drive a bus in rural area for 6 consecutive months.
